Designed by Disc Interiors the fabulous house was crafted to meet the specific demands of a couple where one was a landscape architect and the other a surfer. This is precisely the reason why a love for the outdoors becomes a central yet understated part of the narrative as each room adds colors of nature in its own unique way.
One of the unique challenges of building this lovely family retreat was the existing building code that prevented the house from being any taller than six feet above grade on the building’s uphill side.
Designed by Gabriela Caicedo-Liebert the house combines a hint of Art Deco with unassuming minimalism and contemporary ergonomics to fashion a distinct and dashing silhouette. The two main structures of the house that welcome you are both windowless and have a gentle curved edge with the main entrance located in between the twin behemoths.
Gorgeously crafted garden stretches add to an already energetic living room that is filled with a bright blue couch orange and green chairs and a large sofa that provides ample sitting space. Even the open glass shelves in different colors accentuate this appeal of playful contemporary panache that is carried through into the dining space and the kitchen.
Since we are in Brazil there is absolutely no escaping the strong influence of ‘life on the beach’ with curated artwork and fascinating photo collages making their presence felt in the bedroom and dining area.
While one of the two volumes holds the living room kitchen and dining space the other contains three bedrooms two bathrooms an attic and a terrace. The color palette inside the house is filled with earthen hues with stone adobe and cane dominating much of the setting while the red grass sun roof outside seems to extend this ‘nature-centric’ theme.
A Neutral backdrop is a feature that is all too common in modern homes and the in Texas is no different as its walls are clad in simple white. But that does not mean this is devoid of uniqueness or personality as it is carefully curated furniture custom décor pieces and of course nifty accessories that give it an aura of its own.
