Designed by Remy Architects the spacious home occupies and is spread across three gorgeous levels that are interconnected with a series of walkways and cleverly placed corridors.
The lowest level contains a guest room along with a laundry room and a smart hall while the first floor holds the living room kitchen and dining space. The top two levels contain the master bedroom bathrooms and additional bedrooms and offer a great view of the city landscape and beyond.
With a spacious den bedroom bathroom and utility space the basement offers a private retreat for the family while connecting them to the forest landscape outside. It is the top floor that contains the living area kitchen dining space and two additional bedrooms along with a modest wooden deck.
The courtyard house is a perennial favorite among homeowners who crave a residence with a flowing indoor-outdoor interplay that blurs the traditional lines of architecture. Of course this is far more difficult to accomplish in an urban setting where both space and privacy become an issue.
Despite the more traditional backdrop one is never far away from modern ergonomics and comfort here. Artwork and sculptural pieces that reflect Vietnamese culture and heritage complete this masterful vertical house.
This meant that the upper floor was incorporated into the hillside and the gradient of the lot turned into an advantage by simply using a step-wise arrangement of various levels. Despite these restrictions a lovely roof deck incorporated within a flat planted roof allows the homeowners to take in the sights and sounds of the serene island!
The second edifice is the main house that contains the open plan space with the living kitchen and dining areas on the lower level and the private zones on the top floor while the third building houses the laundry and home studio. This not only gives a clear delineation of functionality for each structure but also allows the architects to make the most of the available space outdoors.
