Designed by La Design Studio the suburban home aims to bring nature indoors not just with a great courtyard and garden space but with every level of the house adding a hint of greenery to create a refreshing and cheerful ambiance.
The use of dark-toned wooden surfaces and finishes also adds to the tropical style of the home that is accentuated by the design of the ceiling and the lovely shutters. With summers getting really hot on this beautiful Aussie island the ‘completely open’ design allows for natural cooling with the ocean breeze flowing through the interior.
Crafted by WernerField & Joshua Rice Design the living room here is filled with plenty of natural light as sliding glass doors connect the interior with the view outside. It is white drapes that add another layer of functionality to the large glass doors as they combine privacy with unabated views and even aid in filtering the sunlight on hot summer days.
One of the unique challenges of building this lovely family retreat was the existing building code that prevented the house from being any taller than six feet above grade on the building’s uphill side.
Essentially the delightful residence brings together a series of courtyards and open spaces bound by glass and stone walls to create a relaxing imaginative and exclusive interior. Apart from the obvious stone and glass presence it is the sturdy steel beams that bring another interesting dimension to this Aussie home even as the two butterfly roofs open up to bring in as much sunlight as possible.
The grasscloth-covered walls in the bedroom also seem to be inspired by colors in the garden even as a beautiful rug with a vintage vibe gives the room a relaxing stylish feel. It is easy to fall in love with this California home that paints a pleasant and inviting picture while cleverly integrating the hues and aura that its owners longed for.
Designed by Marina Vella Arquitectos sustainability and an ability to integrate with the natural backdrop were the key aspects that shaped Casa Chontay. A curved stone wall broken up by the presence of sleek tall windows greets you here even as the outdoor dining area and pergola leave a big impression.
