While the classic brick exterior of this once-thriving warehouse had to be left almost completely untouched the interiors were completely overhauled to accommodate two individual residences with separate entrances – a design that perfectly meets the needs of an extended modern family.
While one of the two volumes holds the living room kitchen and dining space the other contains three bedrooms two bathrooms an attic and a terrace. The color palette inside the house is filled with earthen hues with stone adobe and cane dominating much of the setting while the red grass sun roof outside seems to extend this ‘nature-centric’ theme.
This was built by Aamodt / Plumb Architects in just a matter of 12 months from the initial idea being put in place and while that might not sound all that ‘fast’ it is remarkably quick for a home of its size.
Move beyond this and you will notice the use of a stone accent wall that veers away from the contemporary narrative and yet seems to fit in with the modern setting all too easily! It is the wooden décor pieces though that clearly steal the spotlight here as they usher in textural and geometric contrast without ever disturbing the serene ambiance of the home.

But when it comes to a lovely vacation home on the beach one does not really need a whole lot of room and even the smallest can fill your idyllic summer afternoons with unabated joy.
Nestled on a hillside lot and offering a view of the distant Atlantic the designed by Charles Rose Architects is more contemporary than rustic. Despite this clearly modern edge the elegant residence aims to be as ‘organic’ as possible with a cedar shiplap exterior and a smart green roof.
Prefabricated homes make life a lot easier for those looking to keep construction costs down even while ensuring that much of the work is done offsite. But another advantage of prefab homes is the speed that they bring to the development of a new residence; something that simply cannot be matched by on-site designs.
