Since we are in Brazil there is absolutely no escaping the strong influence of ‘life on the beach’ with curated artwork and fascinating photo collages making their presence felt in the bedroom and dining area.
Instead of one large structure the architects opted for two smaller volumes that make the most of the views on offer. The garden outside is filled with a variety of plants and lined with large stones and it seems to unite and bind the two volumes giving a sense of visual cohesion.
Nestled on a hillside lot and offering a view of the distant Atlantic the designed by Charles Rose Architects is more contemporary than rustic. Despite this clearly modern edge the elegant residence aims to be as ‘organic’ as possible with a cedar shiplap exterior and a smart green roof.
The latest additions to the home include new bedrooms for kids and additional guest rooms on the lower level along with the reworked living area kitchen and dining space. The use of large floor-to-ceiling glass windows ensure that the interior is always connected with the fabulous landscape outside even as the new green roof and second level with master suite up the style quotient of this California residence.
An accent stone wall in the bedroom and an outdoor shower add to the textural contrast and elegance of the beach house while accents in blue and yellow add a dash of color to an otherwise neutral interior.
