Crafted by WernerField & Joshua Rice Design the living room here is filled with plenty of natural light as sliding glass doors connect the interior with the view outside. It is white drapes that add another layer of functionality to the large glass doors as they combine privacy with unabated views and even aid in filtering the sunlight on hot summer days.
A simple pathway and an irregular ramp shape the lovely entrance to the house where a large 4-meter-tall door in local Lapacho wood greets you gleefully. The interior is also draped in locally sourced Lapacho wood adding warmth and elegance to a contemporary setting that is otherwise dominated by white and other neutral hues.
It is barely a surprise then that a modern retreat set in its rural countryside is surrounded by an idyllic landscape that seems to not only define the silhouette of the residence but also its style and ambiance. Nestled in a remote nook of 25 miles southeast of the beautiful escape sits on top of a mountainous lot and offers a panoramic view of the distant river and mountains.
Then there is the matter of getting the style right with elegant contemporary overtones being extended into the garden and courtyard. But in finds a way to combine the outdoorsy charm with a dab of sophistication connecting its refined living space with a cultured courtyard.
Designed by La Design Studio the suburban home aims to bring nature indoors not just with a great courtyard and garden space but with every level of the house adding a hint of greenery to create a refreshing and cheerful ambiance.
The use of dark-toned wooden surfaces and finishes also adds to the tropical style of the home that is accentuated by the design of the ceiling and the lovely shutters. With summers getting really hot on this beautiful Aussie island the ‘completely open’ design allows for natural cooling with the ocean breeze flowing through the interior.
