Nestled on a hillside lot and offering a view of the distant Atlantic the designed by Charles Rose Architects is more contemporary than rustic. Despite this clearly modern edge the elegant residence aims to be as ‘organic’ as possible with a cedar shiplap exterior and a smart green roof.
Gorgeously crafted garden stretches add to an already energetic living room that is filled with a bright blue couch orange and green chairs and a large sofa that provides ample sitting space. Even the open glass shelves in different colors accentuate this appeal of playful contemporary panache that is carried through into the dining space and the kitchen.
The is filled with ample textural beauty and exudes a relaxed modern ambiance that relies largely on the use of a neutral color scheme and wonderful natural ventilation. While the framing of the entire house was completed in no more than two weeks the off-site development was complemented by parallel foundation work on the lot ensuring that the building time was kept down to an absolute minimum.
In fact rigid walls are kept to an absolute minimum here giving the dwelling a relaxing vibe. With the interior and the garden and pool deck outside flowing into one another almost seamlessly the greenery outside becomes an integral part of the living area indoors.
This was built by Aamodt / Plumb Architects in just a matter of 12 months from the initial idea being put in place and while that might not sound all that ‘fast’ it is remarkably quick for a home of its size.
The idea here was to not just fashion a home that connects with the panoramic scenery but also to incorporate design flexibility and adaptability that lets it grow along with the needs of the homeowners.
An accent stone wall in the bedroom and an outdoor shower add to the textural contrast and elegance of the beach house while accents in blue and yellow add a dash of color to an otherwise neutral interior. Combining comfort with simple aesthetics and flowing form this is a beach house that makes the most of the 100 square meters of space on offer even as it turns the landscape around it into the real showstopper.
