The flat roof lines stand in contrast to this form and create both geometric and visual contrast with ease. While the exterior seems rigid and minimal the interior offers an inviting relaxing and open living area that opens up into the beautiful backyard.
As a nation Peru is blessed with a landscape that leaves you mesmerized at every turn with stunning mountains breathtaking valleys and an air of mysticism that seems to be epitomized by its rich heritage and renowned World Heritage sites.
Space is definitely not an issue here with the two large volumes being connected by a narrow bridge on the top level even as the lower level is left as open as possible. The gorgeous pool area wooden deck and backyard become a visual part of the interior even as the private zones are housed on the top floor. An engaging roof terrace and modern lighting complete a cheerful residence that reinterprets the classic MiMo style in a grand manner.
But the fabulous renovation goes well beyond the mere expansion of available interior space thanks to the eco-sensitive energy and utility systems which cut back on power consumption and make life here a lot more sustainable.
With a spacious den bedroom bathroom and utility space the basement offers a private retreat for the family while connecting them to the forest landscape outside. It is the top floor that contains the living area kitchen dining space and two additional bedrooms along with a modest wooden deck.
This meant that the upper floor was incorporated into the hillside and the gradient of the lot turned into an advantage by simply using a step-wise arrangement of various levels. Despite these restrictions a lovely roof deck incorporated within a flat planted roof allows the homeowners to take in the sights and sounds of the serene island!
The idea here was to not just fashion a home that connects with the panoramic scenery but also to incorporate design flexibility and adaptability that lets it grow along with the needs of the homeowners.
